The last time we sent a newsletter, it was October 2023 and the world was a different place: Eric didn’t even have a beard. But: big news! We’re back.
After a couple years away to work on The Blog Era, we resumed the show we love the most, 2J3BD, where we review movies with The LOX. For those who don’t know, Eric and I had the guys come over to our old apartment in November 2017 to promote their new project on our podcast, A Waste of Time.
Normally a pretty chill conversation with everyone from Cardi B or Rick Ross to behind-the-scenes people, that episode of AWOT was off-the-wall crazy, mostly because Styles and Jada’s internal chemistries been warped by some really strong edibles. So, in between Kiss falling asleep on the table and singing New Edition songs, Styles and Louch started arguing about movies — The Big Lebowski, which we all love; The Color Purple, which Jada woke up to make fun of. Eric, smart man that he is, was like, “I don’t know what’s going on, but whatever it is, you guys need to start a podcast.”
Styles, even smarter than Eric, responded: “No! We need to start one, and we’ll call it 2 Jews and 2 Black Dudes Review the Movies!” (Jada was back knocked out.) Most important to the story, we didn’t let the idea die in our drug-addled friend’s brain — we actually acted on it.
Eight years later, we have officially renamed the show to include Jadakiss - even though he liked the joke of it - and we are now recording on a pretty-much-weekly basis! (See below for data proof; more here. Give us a follow on Instagram while you’re there.)
For new followers who didn’t know the origin story, there’s a lot for you to catch up on. For people who lost track of us over the years, there’s some new episodes to look forward to!! It looks like we’ll have a couple of dates soon! And, I’m happy to say, subscribers to this newsletter will be the first to find out — maybe even in next week’s edition!
Where can I buy 2J3BD merch?
We’ve got some designs done, and working on others. There’s a whole bunch of running bits we’d love to make merch for — Is Jadakiss Italian?* Pumpkleta and Karate Man, to name a few. It’s been a long time since we’ve sold merch, so we’re trying to do it in a smart way for 2025/2026. Bear with us, sorry for the delay — but again, we’ll be making announcements here very soon. Could it be next week? Hard to say. Not that hard to say, but hard to say.

Where can I buy a LOX hat?
You can buy them at the Godspeed store or just search “LOX hat” online, they’re all around the same price (even on weirdo Russian spambot websites) which is ‘expensive’. People like to complain to me how much they cost! But I don’t care because I don’t work there, I don’t get a commission and I have newsletters to write.
Can I suggest movies for you guys to watch?
Yes! In fact, we set up a Google form for you to do just that! I’m going to start shouting out your names if your movie gets chosen, and this is a really good way to keep track of the movies you throw out into the ether — instead of them getting lost in comment sections and DMs.
This newsletter will also be a place for us to tell fun stories about the week’s episode, maybe we’ll do some Q&As and ancillary content in here with me, Eric and The LOX. Maybe we’ll show you Johan, the man behind the cameras! I dunno, hit us with ideas. We’re flexible and I’m a people pleaser (even if I hate everything).
