There’s a lot of business to get to this week, no time for niceties or beating around the bush — we have to get straight to it. Even though I want to tell a story about hanging out with our friends this weekend, there’s no time. No time for talking about the important thing I learned from Joe & Jada’s episode this week. No time to talk about OC’s Time’s Up, the classic 1995 joint.
THERE’S SIMPLY NO TIME.
THERE’S JUST NOT.
I WANT TO. BUT I CAN’T. SORRY.
So, BOOM.
We only have size XL merch (and a few Ls). But you can come through, hang out, say hi to me, Eric and Styles, smoke, not smoke. We’ll play some movies.
I didn’t ask for people’s RSVP, I think it’ll self-regulate. So, hopefully I’m right. See you there!
Yesterday, we dropped our long-awaited Apocalypto episode — which featured Styles’ most palpable breakdown of the movie yet. “BOOM,” he said, with the power of a hundred bodies to his name, satisfying the bottomless appetite of the Mayan Sun God. Somewhere in his, I dunno, sixth minute of describing every frame of the movie, Styles really hit a flow state…it was like he convinced himself he was Jaguar Paw. And Jada was jumping in, keeping the whole thing rolling, shouting “QUICKSAND! QUICKSAND! TAR MAN!” Even Sheek of all people was into it — what a world! (Eric was going to cut it down to post it to Instagram but (and I quote) “Yeah, that’s too hard.”
UPDATE: Nevermind, Eric is now working on cutting it down for Instagram. Pray 4 Eric.
Every Monday at 10am, we premiere the episode on YouTube and I’m happy to say we had our biggest group yet in the chat: 456 people! Can we get to 500 next week, for Eric’s pick, One Battle After Another?
I’m also introducing a new feature to the newsletter: are there any questions you have after watching the Apocalypto episode? Is there anything we missed in the movie? Leave a comment, I’ll pick one and we’ll answer on the OBAA episode.
People always like to know what’s happening with the five of us — like, when I’m on Instagram Live, I always get “what’s everyone else up to?” as if we move as a unit. So I just wanted to pull the curtain back a bit, give a glimpse of what’s happening in the 2J3BD group chat.
Sheek hit me and Eric last week, and told us to watch The Rip on Netflix (which we were going to watch anyway — Matt and Ben are our guys). Sheek said it was 🔥🔥🔥.
The next day, I hit the guys:
I’m gonna write a notes app apology saying I’m sorry for using the word “fun,” which is clearly Sheek’s word. My bad.
UPDATE: Eric finished editing the Apocalypto breakdown.
Shouts to Eric, make sure to like the post.
After last week’s (EXCLUSIVE) interview with Sheek went so well, my next interview is going to be with Jadakiss about his experience taking his kids to Sky Zone. Did Jada jump on any of the trampolines? Did he let the twins run off and play Ms. Pac-Man the entire time? Tune in and see! (I would’ve done that for this week’s edition, but he’s in Miami, having watched our brother Dan Rosenthal’s Indiana Hoosiers win the national championship in thrilling fashion. So, next week probably.)
Here’s Dan’s viewpoint from the moment they won b/w Jada’s.

Next week’s pick is Eric’s, which, as mentioned, is One Battle After Another! After racking up a bunch of awards this season, it is finally on HBO Max — where you can watch Teyana Taylor, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall and a ragtag crew of Alana Haim, Junglepussy and others try and take down a system of white supremacy/ultra-nationalists, with cogs-in-the-wheel Sean Penn, the Guy from Scandal and Jim Downey in their way.
Then after him is Sheek and then Jada, then me. Sheek mentioned doing Fargo for his pick, but that was never finalized. So, we’ll wait to announce next week.
As for me, I might pull the trigger on Mean Girls. Been a lot of action-adventure and death, need something else.
As always, you can find us on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, Instagram, TikTok and right here, for our weekly newsletter. Also, here’s our merch shop!
Feel free to suggest movies for us to review here! People hit us every day for us to review movies, and the only way for them not to be lost is in the Google form, linked right there.
The latest ones are: Requiem from a Dream (DARK but maybe so over the top that it could be funny), Howard the Duck (which feels like a Sheek pick — but I could also see Jada doing it) and Harlem Nights which is currently streaming on Pluto, and which I’ll be watching tonight. Good call.

Honestly, P’s breakdown of Apocalypto was one of if not the most in depth and expertly explained breakdown he’s given yet! You could tell just from that, that he was gonna give it 10s all around. There was just so much energy and detail
Def gonna watch one battle after another before the next episode!
