I drafted new newsletters every day this past week, thinking our long-gestating merch store would be up and live for Black Friday, Cyber Monday…shit, Phat Tuesday, Wild Out Wednesday, This is Taking Too Long Thursday.
But, alas. And it’s for a stupid reason, which we finally found out late yesterday: the IRS thought 2J3BD was a typo. A TYPO! (This is what happens when your president tries to shut down the IRS and runs capable government workers out of DC: we are the real victims.) It’s currently being hashed out, but yea, I have no update.
But, I do have ONE announcement I can share: for our 12/22 live show in Brooklyn, I’m pleased to announce we’ll be talking about Die Hard! Is it a Christmas movie? I mean, it definitely takes place at Christmastime and it’s a tradition amongst my friends to watch it every year…so, yes, I think so. If you vehemently disagree, feel free to come to the show and argue that it’s not. I will personally hand you the microphone.
We got the call earlier this week that there are limited tickets left. If you’ve been waiting, consider this your official kick in the seat of your pants.
That being said, thanks to our great friend and reigning shoe king Mayor who bought a few extra VIP tickets — in the lead up to the show, we’ll be doing a couple of giveaways in this here newsletter. So be on the lookout for that, starting next week.
Next week, we’re watching How High (Jada’s pick) and…we’re also doing a Q&A episode! Respond to this email with whatever questions you want to ask the five of us.
We ask just one favor: no dumb questions. Don’t ask us where to buy LOX hats. Don’t ask when the LOX are going to put out a project with one producer. Don’t ask if Sheek remembers meeting you in 1994. You haven’t let us down in the other Q&A episodes (here, here and here) we’ve done, so we expect the best!
Last week was Thanksgiving, which meant no new episode this week. But! It was also Styles’ birthday, which we celebrated in style:
Styles, famously, loves Lugz. As Styles always says, they’re not just a company, they’re family.
We were taping on a Wednesday. Late Tuesday night, I thought, we have this sketch that’s 90% there…but honestly, getting him a pair of Lugz would put it over the top. Amazon has them for overnight delivery, but I’d missed that window. But I live in New York F’n City, it can’t be that hard to find a pair of Lugz in 2025.
Whoo, buddy. I searched everywhere. I called every independent shoe-seller, looked through the inventory of every big box store. I finally found that there’s a JC Penney in the South Bronx that has them. Fine. So I woke up early — confirmed with a saleswoman that they had Lugz in-store — and made the hour-long journey to Baychester with a skip in my step. I was so pumped. I walk in and…no Lugz. None anywhere.
I’m stunned. But there’s no time, I have to find these goddamn boots. It’s noon by the time I get home. I find on Craigslist a guy somewhere in Queens who has the model (!) and Styles’ size (!) of Lugz I’m looking for. But then he tells me he’s deep in Queens, way too far away for me to make it back in time. So I regretfully say it won’t work out.
Let me tell you, this guy is the most supportive person on Earth:
SEND ME A LINK TO YOUR VID WHEN YOU’RE DONE. My friends don’t even ask me to send them my work. Smh. What a gentleman. Shouts to him.
Anyway, back to the mission: we found that there was ONE store in Port Chester that had the shoes. Just about 45 minutes out of the way from Yonkers, which we’d have to pick up on the way up to the studio. I had the staff of Famous Footwear hold the Lugz for us for a few hours. When I got there, the one woman working in the massive store said, “Did you call about these? Not a lot of people call for Lugz.”
Some would say “you do a lot for a joke,” but I’d argue we do a lot for our friends. You know it made Styles very happy, to be thought of so deeply.
Also, if anyone needs Lugz boots in a women’s size 9, we have them for you. That’s the one and only reason he’s not keeping them: they’re not Styles’ size.
This next episode is Juice — You can find it on Pluto (for free!), Paramount +, Hulu, I dunno, I’m sure you can find it somewhere.
And same with Jada’s pick: How High! It’s on Fubo (free!), Starz, Hulu, Amazon…I guess it’s a lot of places. I’d never seen it until just now, tbh. Crazy how, in 2001, there were two fish-out-of-water stories set at Harvard: How High and Legally Blonde.
Thank you forever, see you next week, see you Dec. 22 in Brooklyn!

It looks like my personal episode has been pushed to January, so I’ve been spared from having to choose a Christmas movie on top of Die Hard. But I’m still considering No Country for Old Men and Napoleon Dynamite as my top two picks for this round.

How high is my all time favorite comedy. And no country for old men was aight, the movie didn’t do the book justice. I’d love to hear a Styles/kiss recap on napoleon dynamite . Boom! Double Boom!
I walk into the house and wife is watching celebrity edition of the weakest link: Christmas movie edition and guess who’s on there for being in a Christmas movie? Reginald valjohnson!
